Cul-De-Sac

The house was flanked
by two large concrete dogs.

Which were bigger than the house
and smaller than the people,

Who could only
press their noses
against it’s windows

and jiggle it’s key

Amanda Joy is an installation artist, sculptor, poet,
freelance writer, arts reviewer, sustainable living developer
and keeper of a dog called Love.
Living in the colonial outpost of Fremantle, Western Australia.
Her poems, reviews and articles have been included in Artsource,
Monument, Resistance, and Artlink as well as having written
regular columns for The Western Beacon, Perth Arts Scene and Scoop.
She majored in English and Comparative Literature
and Japanese Studies with a minor in Communications
at Murdoch University before reading too much Illich
and ditching it all to accept a scholarship to major in
Sculpture at Curtin University.
Her artwork is included in many public and private collections worldwide.
She is working on her first anthology of poetry.
