An Ex poem

I remember
at the wedding
how you hesitated as the minister said ,
"share all your earthly possessions"

at the camp you, gluing huge teeth in the mouth of a fish, gleaming in the sunlight
how you mounted a Manta Ray looking just like a naked woman
my son saying he thought you tried to drown him and acted like you were joking
how you gutted a rabbit alive and handed me his beating heart

the first time you back-handed me unexpectedly in the truck during an argument
finding out how sick your relationship with your mother was
finding your relationship with quite a few of your buddies was more than just affectionate
finding you beat your son by another marriage with a rubber hose
my son cutting his foot and you refused to take me to a doctor to give him a tetanus shot
you hiding my sons b- b gun and than beating him for losing it
I found the gun in your truck hidden along with 2 wallets with driver's licenses in them and a billy club nearby.
when my other son got bit by a copperhead and you abandoned me in the hospital for 3 days
threatening my life catching me every time I tried to escape
grabbing my hair throwing me across the room, breaking the mirror
waking to find a gun in my mouth

How I tricked you and got away with my children
with one heavy suitcase and 50 dollars escaping to Houston, Texas,, terrified
after 7 years calling you and getting a divorce

After me, how you ruined a man's wife, got her to leave her kids
her husband had the small town mafia to break your legs
grind your face in the pavement of the road
