As a long time Oklahoma resident with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Jerrod Smith has been fortunate as such a young artist to have numerous exhibitions and collaborative shows both In and out of state. He creates with the use of materials including charcoal, beeswax, collage, transfers, and paint with the understanding of the personal touch, and how the intimate maneuvers of his medium relay the idea of capturing the moment.  Smith continually strives to express his grief for the hurting world around us while capturing the past and evoking the reality of hope for the future. Past shows include: A.K.A Gallery, 611 Creative, World’s Fair Music Management Gallery (home of management for the Flaming Lips), IAO Gallery, Firehouse Art Center; Norman, OK and many others. Featured in the “Edmond Outlook,” “The Edmond Sun,” “The Daily Oklahoman,” the “Oklahoma Gazette,” “NONzine” and the online magazine “Literary Fever” (literaryfever.com).  Jerrod has been fortunate to start off in a state that supports the arts in such a great way.  Currently he is employed with Nationally and Internationally known bronze sculptor, David Phelps (phelpssculpture.com) and is continually expanding his portfolio in preparation for applying to graduate school at the end of 2008.
