The Match

Remind them of their father,
It’s a toss you always win, remember,
If they loved the old man,
Then they will want to hug you,
Play catch with you, maybe
Sit on your lap, although some
Might start to cry and say they’re lonely.

And if they hated him, the bastard,
You are their next best chance
For the second coming of poppa,
The bedtime dance without the whiskey.
