Words Before Spoken Are Prettier Than
Those Chosen To Be Heard By Others
perhaps it won't if we cooperate
that is, despite this choice
we can leave like wind
evaporate and become still
like an idle parade sat in snow
we can drum our brains into clouds
like larva in the floorboards they latch
gestations of criminals ants
dumb base byrthed to futile life
crumbpush along
that is, some of us medicate
with twisted liquid in burlap pants
and if it does lend me the question
so i know if it does
lately the situation is over aloof
were it not for the sun i would stay
put as an oven baked as a bird
in a fiery nest twisting like worms in the rain
this morning i was certain once more
that life was real and almost done
dreams again unraveled
i rolled over and saw the moon
white in the blue and the sun was hidden
and the clouds in her eyes were broken
were it not for her eyes i would stay
